Essential paperwork

Visa, passport, plane ticket and guidebook. Posted by Hello

I received my passport and Visa back from the Indian Consulate in Toronto. I also got my plane ticket which was purchased in Toronto for just under $2000.00CDN taxes in.

Getting a visa is not a problem if you are a Canadian citizen. Just make sure your passport is valid for the entire duration of the visa (6 months for a tourist visa). You can check out the regulations regarding visas at the Indian Consulate-General website and download the necessary forms as well. If you don't live close to a consular office you can mail everything in. To be safe allow a week for processing and a week or more for mailing. One thing to be aware of is that the visa starts the day it is issued, even if you don't arrive in India for weeks after that. This means you 6 month tourist visa may only be valid for 4 or 5 months by the time you enter the country.
